Sunday Kipling

Another Sunday is upon us. Fence has been built, dog walked and Corvette sold. It was an interesting week. With the election bearing down on us the coming month will be more interesting still. I think some flame seared beef is in order on this day. Perhaps a ride or even a short trip to the secret range. Ah, choices. I hope this day finds you all hale and with someone you love. Take care and remember that sometimes scratching a warm, furry belly is all you need to be happy.

The Outlaws

1914
Through learned and laborious years
  They set themselves to find
Fresh terrors and undreamed-of fears
  To heap upon mankind.

ALl that they drew from Heaven above
  Or digged from earth beneath,
They laid into their treasure-trove
  And arsenals of death:

While, for well-weighed advantage sake,
  Ruler and ruled alike
Built up the faith they meant to break
When the fit hour should strike.

They traded with the careless earth,
  And good return it gave:
They plotted by their neighbour's hearth
The means to make him slave.

When all was ready to their hand
  They loosed their hidden sword,
And utterly laid waste a land
Their oath was pledged to guard.

Coldly they went about to raise
To life and make more dread
Abominations of old days,
  That men believed were dead.

They paid the price to reach their goal
  Across a world in flame;
But their own hate slew their own soul
  Before that victory came.

I am aching for chilly weather, so I enjoy some warm comfort food, but we are stuck with sun shine and 80, so flame seared beef it will be for us too.

Life is hard...lol

Agreed. I've said the same to Mrs. Paladin many times - Especially if the furry belly is mine :) Have a great day, Six!

Times they are a changing, and I'm hoping we do NOT need to take care of any outlaws in the near future... I truly miss having dogs, but at least my neighbor's pup will come over for a scratching when I see them!

We can feel the Autumn air changing here now Girl. Jacket weather soon.

I like that Paladin. Thanks.

I'm with you Old NFO. Best we keep out knives sharp and the ammo handy just in case. A furry belly is a furry belly!

I've got two dogs upside down gettin' their furry bellies scratched right now... Although Ruger, the German Shepherd, would like a belly rub while riding in a Corvette...

Tell Ruger if he catches a quick flight I can handle that request. But he better be fast cause Black Betty will be in someone else's stable tomorrow. Sad but necessary.
