Christmas Snow

Well, Kinda. On Monday night we got the first snow of the year. I know many of you in the colder regions will laugh at that but we don't get that much snow and Lu and I have been living in snow free California for an awful long time so for us it was pretty dang cool.

It started pretty late and we didn't discover the white blanket until about 10:00.

Pristine. Or at least it was until a certain black dog made an entrance. Hi Angus!

A view from across the street looking all wintery and Christmassy.

The green truck and nary a window scraper to be found.

It's a good thing Lu used plastic Poinsettias this year.

It's kinda hard to see but that's the Pirate Ghost ship looking all gloomy and, well... Pirate Ghosty.

Angus never could quite figure out what all the fuss was about though when Mom and Dad got into an impromptu snowball fight he was happy to join in. It's a wonder the neighbors didn't call the cops on us.

The next morning and the evidence of our nocturnal frolicking.

"Come on, it's just a little snow. Let's go somewhere!

I'm taking a little break for the holiday so except for Sunday Kipling this will be my last post before the new year. I'm going to relax, eat myself into a food coma and generally enjoy the season and my family. The computer is being shut off and not activated again until 2013 is here. Lu, Angus and I will be spending Christmas with sarge and MIL. There are goodies in the kitchen calling my name and a dog who is always up to share. Packages have been purchased, wrapped and sent. All is in order and my life is full up with blessings.

Merry Christmas my friends. May you have all the joy and gladness you can. I'll see you in the new year.

Remember Those Who Will Not Be Home This Christmas

In a couple of days we will celebrate the birth of Christ. Christmas day. We'll open brightly wrapped packages, eat til we're stuffed, sing some carols and enjoy friends and family. As we should. As is right and proper. The chance to enjoy this holiday in the warmth and comfort of our homes has been bought and paid for by men and women who will never again feel the embrace of loved ones nor see the joy in their childrens faces upon opening a particularly precious gift. Brought to us by men and women who will spend yet another Christmas away from hearth and home so that we, their beloved countrymen, might have this day in peace. They will ever be in our hearts.

To all those we have lost. How we do miss you.  For all those who are still serving, so far from your loved ones. We love you more than we can say. Thank you for your service and sacrifice. Thank you for allowing me to have those I love best near to enjoy our holiday in peace and comfort. Thank you for keeping the faith.

From my family to you and yours may you have a Merry Christmas. We pray that you will find your homes again safely in the new year. May God bless each and every one of you and may we never forget.

Merry Christmas

I hope this Day finds you all happy and healthy. Sarge, the Mom in Law, Sis in Law and her husband are coming over tonight for the Six household tradition of Oyster soup on Christmas Eve. The Grandchildren are tucked into their beds in far off Hungary, dreaming of Christmas morning. The DO will put them on Skype tomorrow so we can see them and hear all about what Santa brought them.

I am content. I am grateful. Was there ever a man so blessed?

For our soldiers, both here and overseas, our Police Officers, Fire Fighters, EMT/Paramedics, for all those who must do their duty on this Eve and Day may God bless each of you and your families. Keep the faith and come home to those of us who love you so much. I pray God's love and care for you today and indeed all days.

For all of you, my friends, may you have a very Merry Christmas. Thank you for everything you have done for me and my family this past year. May the joy and blessings of this day find you and those you love wherever you may be.
