It's funny how many people think that those who's military inclinations took them into the Infantry are dumb. The Sniper proves the fallacy of that assumption. He has a paper up here that explains, in clear and easy to understand words, the history of Afghanistan, why we're there, what works and more importantly what doesn't. It's a brilliant piece. It's long but I highly recommend reading the whole thing.
Well done Sniper.

As a career military aviator, I used every opportunity available to educate my civilian friends as to the motivation, stamina, patriotism, and intelligence it takes to be an Infantryman. A tough, demanding profession that does not suffer fools or idiots. America produces no finer warriors than the nineteen year old private led by the twenty three year old LT infantrymen. In the long run, everyone in the military's job is to support them. regards, Alemaster
Well said Alemaster.
Was it Aristotle who said that the society that separates its scholars from its warriors will have its thinking done by cowards and its fighting done by fools.
That the Academy is surprised that the military is filled with brilliant thinkers is a double indictment of the Academy. Not only can't they fight, they can't even think any more.
Exactly right BP. The Warrior/Priest ethos is alive and well. Serving on the front lines...
