Back

Lu and I would like to thank all of you for your expressions of love and support. They really do help. Chrisi was Lu's girl and constant companion and protector for almost 16 years. Her loss isn't easy to deal with but Lu recognizes that it was Chrisi's time and has taken great comfort from knowing that she had taken her as far as she could go and now Chrisi is free from pain and age and is running once again with her beloved big brother Trooper. Waiting for Lu at the Bridge.

We took the weekend and basically just talked and healed. Angus has been a huge help. He's such a sweetheart. So happy and energetic and loving. How could anyone be sad around him?

We're doing better. I think it's been worse because of Mom. I really hope this isn't a trend cause I'm not sure I can take another any time soon.

We're going to take the same track we did when Trooper passed. We're going to celebrate Chrisi's life, remember her how she was and take solace in the knowledge that getting a dog with genetic hip dysplasia to almost 16 years old was nothing short of a miracle. We should have lost her years ago. She held on to the end but at that end she went gently and peacefully, at home and surrounded by those she loved most and who loved her. I'll do a tribute post about her just as soon as I think I can do it without breaking down.

Lu said it was amazing that we have been able to find so many wonderful people here who have become so dear to us. She wanted you all to know that she's read every comment and that they have all touched her heart. Thank you.

And now it's time to move on. There are things to do, places and people to visit and a certain young dog who needs mommy and daddy at their best. We will persevere and in time we will stop tearing up at a sudden memory trigger. And we remember that we were blessed to have our Chrisi for the time we had her and that while all life is fleeting it's much better lived than avoided from the fear of loss.

Yeah. Life is good.
